Mindfulness Videos in the Classroom and Beyond
Date & Time
Thursday, August 12, 2021, 12:45 PM - 1:30 PM

This presentation will present the process and products of our research project: Mindfulness Videos in the Classroom and Beyond. Informed by community-oriented and collaborative mindsets, the project aimed to produce a series of mindfulness videos to be used in classrooms, staff rooms and board rooms and by groups and individuals within every group at our college located in downtown Toronto, Ontario. The videos were informed by two focus groups involving representative members of our college who shared about engagement, relevancy and accessibility of video-based mindfulness practice. To create the videos, the project worked with five students across disciplines including Design, Deaf and Deafblind Studies, and Theatre. Our presentation will share the focus group data and lessons learned from both faculty and student perspectives. By sharing the resulting videos, we will also invite the participants to practice with us. A time for discussion will follow the presentation.
